Aussie Terri-poos

This Hybrid of and Australian Terrier and a Miniature Poodle is also known as a Terripoo.

The physical and behaviorial characterics that are prevalant in Australian Terriers and Poodles may also be passed onto the offspring.

Australian Terrier Characteristics:

The national terrier of Australia, the Australian Terrier is one of the smallest of the working terriers. Though a quiet terrier, the Aussie is nonetheless a plucky, tough character, ready to go after a ball when the chance arises. It is fun-loving and adventurous, and needs daily exercise. It is clever and generally eager to please, making it one of the more obedient terriers and therefore easily trained.. It gets along well with other dogs and household pets. These dogs do have the tendancy to chase, so it is a good idea to keep them from raoming free.

The Aussie's long, shaggy coat should only be washed once a month to keep it from getting dull. Brushing the Aussie will bring it's coat to a high gloss. This do has little to no shedding, making it a good pet for allergy sufferers.

Poodle Characteristics:

Highly intelligent, the Poodle is one of the easiest dogs to train. Their personalities tend to be good natured and friendly, and are a calm breed. They enjoy being around others and are a good house and family (especially one with children) pet, and do well in a house with other pets present. Poodles adore water and require daily walks, and if properly exercised, are quite inactive inside a house. A firm, but not harsh, hand is required when training or repremanding a poodle. They are very sensitive to their owners tone of voice so a calm, firm word is usually all it takes to control a poodle.

Poodles have a curly or corded coat, and do not shed, making them a great pet for allergy sufferers.

When mixed with the Poodle the puppies resemble a Yorkie Poo, except the Aussie Terri Poo has the long tail. They can be either black and tan or sable in color.
